Direct reporting line: Head of Innovation / CTO

SmartSea platform engineering framework combines Internal Development Platform (‘IDP’) principles
and production service management processes to streamline software development and operational
efficiency.

The Platform Owner is responsible for managing and evolving the platform tech-stack as a product
with a focus on developer self-service, automation and enabling an application ecosystem. Having a
‘pull’ rather than ‘push’ mentality, the goal is to capture ideas and needs from Product teams [platform
tenants] and develop platform features that they want and provide easy paths with built-in guardrails.

Manage the platform backlog
• Manage demand from direct requests balanced with demand from service requests.
• Work with Architects and Product Owners to define epics & roadmaps for platform
capabilities.
• Align platform capability development activities with business goals and product roadmaps.

Requirements analysis
• Adopting a product-mindset, define and prioritize to deliver quick value
• Understand and address stakeholder (i.e. developers, support engineers, service
managers,…) pain points and needs for platform capabilities.
• Identify opportunities for development & production service management process
improvement.
• Define stories and tasks and lead refinement activities with subject matter experts.
• Assess costs for developing & operating platform capabilities, such as cloud resources,
software services, engineering efforts, etc.
Ensure platform stability & service performance
• Work with SREs to define and manage Service Level Objectives for platform hosting services.
• Define platform services support models for target service level requirements of the
application ecosystem and oversee incident management process for the platform features
and ensure correct assignment/routing for Product [platform tenant] related incidents .
• Act as a single point of contact and escalation point for Platform tenants.
• Manage supplier service levels (i.e. cloud provider, LCAP provider, tools providers, external
data sources, etc.) for resolution of cases affecting platform capabilities (and in-turn platform
tenants).
• Provide Service Level Management reporting for SLA compliance.
• Ensure Root Cause Analysis is conducted for major incidents.
• Define & validate Disaster Recovery plans & procedures for platform tenants.

Manage platform resources
• Manage the provisioning, configuration and usage of the underlying technology resources
including software and cloud services licensing.
• Manage the provisioning of application development and runtime environments and
associated deployment processes in compliance with central change management.

Participate in the central change management to manage the deployment of core platform
components and tenant application updates into Production.
• Fulfill user access management requests for platform services and ensure security controls
are properly configured.
• Support the tenant’s development lifecycle by providing configuration and troubleshooting
assistance (as needed) for the testing and deployment processes.
• Manage updates and upgrades for platform components including backups, version upgrades
and database maintenance in accordance with the platform change management process.
• Identify & establish monitoring, capture usage stats of the platform and its features to identify
expenditure and resource needs from the platform team.

Ecosystem Management & Interoperability
• Manage the lifecycle of core components (incl. application modules) that provide enabling and
shared capabilities.
• Ensure platform catalogs are updated and maintained for platform applications, interfaces and
data sources.
• Monitor and control the usage and support of published APIs consumed by platform tenants.
• Ensure platform services are operating within committed service levels and are compliant with
SmartSea security & risk management policies.
• Assist the platform tenant development teams to conduct security reviews and audits.
• Create and maintain documentation for platform level configuration and administration.

Support innovation & growth
• Support Solution Architects & Engineers to conduct Proof of Concepts & Spikes.
• Investigate emerging technologies to enhance platform efficiency and reliability.

Generally: Promoting and marketing the platform to key stakeholders and to customers of the platform
to ensure its features and value are well know and visible. Gather feedback on the platform to help
inform on improvement opportunities.

Key external stakeholders:
• Microsoft, Mendix and other vendors, interfacing with technical service managers .
• API consumers & partners, using API and integration documentation.
• Industry regulators & compliance bodies , supporting reporting & audit requirements .
Key internal stakeholders:
• Head of Innovation, to define & align platform strategy with business goals . Act as the bridge
between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment and seamless platform adoption.
• Product Managers, to ensure the platform can support product roadmaps & integrates
seamlessly with business applications .
• Head of Infrastructure & Operations, as a change manager and delivery partner.
• Architects, to ensure scalable, efficient, secure, reliable designs.
• Customer support teams, to provide training & support resolution of operational issues.

• Stakeholder Management – Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical teams,
executives, and external partners.
• Project & Product Management – Experience with Agile, Scrum methodologies to manage
priorities and delivery timelines.
• Vendor & Partner Management – Proven ability to manage third-party integrations, and
oversee external service providers.
• Years of Experience – ideally 5+ years in technology roles with experience as a technical
Product Manager, Product Owner and/or Delivery Manager.
• Industry Background – Experience in Maritime IT would beneficial, cloud platforms &
enterprise IT is highly beneficial.
• Proven Track Record – Leading medium/large-scale platform ecosystems, driving reliability
improvements, and managing complex integrations.

• Platform Architecture & Design – High level understanding of cloud-based and API-driven
architectures.
• Low code Application Platforms – High level understanding of rapid application development
practices.
• Reliability Engineering – High level understanding of SRE principles, monitoring, incident
response, and system performance optimization.
• Test strategies – High level understanding of test practices and processes relevant for system
integration.
• API & Integration Management – Understanding of API gateways and API management.
• Cloud & DevOps – Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as
code (IaC).
• Security & Compliance – Knowledge of IAM, OAuth, OpenID, data encryption, and industry
regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering, or a related field.
• Certified Agile scrum product owner desirable.
• ITIL Foundation minimum desirable.
